The otome that holds weight

Amnesia: Memories is the otome I hand to people who think otome is a genre that can't hold weight. The amnesia premise is a Trojan horse — it lets the game test the same heroine against five different relationships, and the test is not "which boy does she end up with" but "what does she do when she doesn't recognise the life she woke up in."

Toma's route is the one that divides readers, and it should. The game is not asking you to endorse the relationship. It is asking you to read it clearly. That's rarer in this genre than it should be.
