Terms of Service.
Effective date: April 27, 2026 Last updated: April 27, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and ContentCrepe LLC ("Yumefumi", "we", "us", "our"), a Delaware limited liability company based in Dover, Delaware, regarding your use of yumefumi.com and any related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Who can use Yumefumi
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Some catalog entries are rated for adult audiences (18+); you must be 18 or older to view those entries, and our age gate is the mechanism by which we enforce that. If we discover an account belongs to someone under 13, we'll delete it. If we discover an under-18 account is bypassing the age gate, we'll suspend the account.
You may not use the Service if you've been previously banned by us, if doing so violates the laws where you live, or if you're using it on behalf of a sanctioned entity.
2. Your account
You're responsible for:
- Keeping your sign-in credentials safe
- Activity under your account, including content you publish or reactions and follows you make
- Providing accurate information at signup and keeping it up to date
If your account is compromised, write to support@yumefumi.com right away. We'll work with you to lock and recover it.
You can delete your account at any time from /settings. Deletion removes your public profile, your reviews and ratings, your reading log, your lists, and your follow graph. Some data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before falling out of rotation; aggregated analytics that don't identify you may persist longer (see Privacy Policy).
3. Subscriptions and billing
Yumefumi offers a free tier and paid tiers (currently Pro and Patron). Paid tiers are billed monthly or annually through Stripe, our payment processor. Prices and features at /pricing.
Founding rate. Accounts that subscribe during the first twelve months of public launch lock in a lower founding rate that holds for as long as their billing stays continuous. The window doesn't reopen, and a lapsed subscription returns to the standard price on resubscription. The founding rate is not transferable between accounts.
Cancellation. Cancel any time from /settings/billing. Your tier stays active through the end of the period you've already paid for, then drops to Free.
Refunds. We don't offer routine refunds for time already used. We will refund accidental double-charges, charges after a confirmed cancellation, and charges resulting from an account compromise once verified. Email support@yumefumi.com.
Price changes. We can change prices for the standard tiers, but accounts on the founding rate keep their locked rate as long as billing stays continuous. We'll give at least 30 days' notice before any standard-tier increase, and the change won't apply until your next renewal.
Taxes. Quoted prices don't include sales tax / VAT / GST, which we collect through Stripe where required by law.
4. Acceptable use
Don't use Yumefumi to:
- Post content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, threatening, harassing, or sexually explicit content of real people
- Impersonate another person or entity, or misrepresent your relationship to one
- Doxx, stalk, or otherwise harass another reader
- Spam, scrape, automate, or otherwise abuse the Service in ways that interfere with normal reader use
- Reverse-engineer, attempt to access non-public parts of the Service, or circumvent our security or rate-limiting
- Resell or redistribute access to your account, or buy/sell handles
- Upload malware, exploits, or content designed to harm other readers' devices or accounts
We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate the above without prior notice. Repeat violations or anything criminal is a permanent ban.
5. Your content
When you post a review, list, note, reaction, thread, reply, or anything else to Yumefumi, you keep the copyright to it. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, distribute, format, and publicly perform it on the Service, and to make copies as needed for backups, search indexing, and the recommendation engine. This license ends when you delete the content (subject to backup retention windows).
You agree that:
- You own the content you post or have the right to post it
- It doesn't infringe anyone else's rights, breach a contract you signed, or violate the law
- It's not sexually explicit content of real people, deepfakes, or similar
- You take responsibility for it. We don't, and we have no obligation to monitor what readers post
6. Curator program
Curators receive elevated visibility (their reviews appear in featured blocks, their picks land on editorial surfaces, etc.) in exchange for editorial work on the catalog. Curators must hold a paid tier (Pro or Patron) and remain in good standing. Curator status carries additional terms surfaced at /settings/curator and can be suspended or revoked for misuse, conflict of interest, or violations of these Terms.
7. Editorial discretion and content moderation
Yumefumi is an editorial product. We reserve the right to:
- Hide, remove, or unpublish any user content (review, list, comment, profile element) at our discretion
- Suspend, ban, or restrict any account
- Decline new accounts or new content from previously suspended accounts
- Moderate the catalog itself (which entries appear, how they're tagged, what's editorially featured)
We try to be transparent about moderation actions. Reviews that get hidden show their authors why; banned accounts get a notification with the reason. We don't promise we'll never make a mistake; we do promise to fix mistakes when readers point them out.
We're a U.S.-based service and rely on Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act for protection from liability for user-posted content. Notice and takedown for copyright claims goes through the DMCA process described in Section 11.
8. Catalog data
Visual novel metadata (titles, descriptions, tags, covers, producer info) is sourced from VNDB and licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL). VNDB owns its catalog; Yumefumi displays and builds on it under that license. The catalog is not user-owned, and you cannot transfer copyright in catalog metadata to or from your account.
User-generated content about catalog entries (your reviews, your lists, your routes, your notes) is yours, subject to Section 5.
9. Yumefumi's intellectual property
The Yumefumi name, the dream-letter (夢文) wordmark, the editorial design, the codebase, and the recommendation engine are owned by ContentCrepe LLC. You may not use any of them as your own brand, in marketing materials, or in a way that suggests an affiliation or endorsement that doesn't exist.
You can link to /vn/[slug] pages, embed reading-journey widgets that we expose for embedding, and discuss Yumefumi in normal editorial contexts (reviews, articles, social media).
10. Publisher relationships
Yumefumi has selective publisher partnerships. Sponsored placements appear only on the Publisher Picks page and in a clearly-labeled partner block on individual VN pages. They are sage-walled, visually distinct from editorial, and do not influence reviews, the recommendation engine, lists, or discovery shelves. The full disclosure lives at /publisher-picks.
When you click through a partner link to a publisher's store, we may earn an affiliate commission. This doesn't change the price you pay.
11. Copyright (DMCA)
If you believe content on Yumefumi infringes your copyright, send a notice to support@yumefumi.com with the subject line "DMCA notice" and include:
- Your physical or electronic signature
- Identification of the work claimed to be infringed
- Identification of the material on Yumefumi you want removed and where to find it (URL is best)
- Your address, phone number, and email
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner
We will remove the content and notify the user who posted it. Repeat infringers will lose their accounts.
If you believe content was wrongly removed, you can file a counter-notice with the same information requirements. We'll restore the content unless the original claimant files a lawsuit within 10-14 business days.
12. Termination
You can stop using Yumefumi any time. Account deletion is at /settings.
We can suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if we're required to by law, if your account is being used for fraud or abuse, or if we discontinue the Service.
Some sections of these Terms survive termination: 5 (the license you granted us, for content not yet deleted from backups), 9 (our IP), 13 (disclaimers), 14 (liability), 15 (indemnification), 16 (disputes), and 18 (general).
13. Disclaimers
Yumefumi is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind. We don't promise the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against every possible threat, or that the recommendations we surface will match your taste in any specific way.
You understand that:
- The Internet is an unreliable transport. We try to keep the Service up but don't guarantee specific uptime
- Reading data, ratings, lists, and reviews may be temporarily unavailable during maintenance
- The catalog is a living thing. Tags change, descriptions get edited by curators, and listings can disappear if VNDB removes them upstream
We disclaim all warranties to the maximum extent permitted by law, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ContentCrepe LLC and its officers, employees, and contractors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost reading data, or lost reputation arising from your use of the Service.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from or related to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $50.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits. In those, the limits apply only to the extent permitted.
15. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ContentCrepe LLC and its officers, employees, and contractors from any claim, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your content
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of someone else's rights
We will give you reasonable notice of any claim and let you control the defense (with our cooperation), provided we approve any settlement that imposes obligations on us.
16. Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, and by U.S. federal law where applicable.
Informal resolution first. Before filing any formal action, contact us at support@yumefumi.com and try to work it out. Most disputes are misunderstandings; many are fixable.
Binding arbitration. If we can't resolve a dispute informally within 60 days, we and you agree that disputes will be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, conducted by a single arbitrator. The seat of arbitration will be Wilmington, Delaware unless we agree otherwise; if you're a consumer, the arbitration may be conducted by telephone or video at your election. The arbitrator's decision is final and enforceable in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Class action waiver. You and we both waive any right to bring or participate in a class action, collective action, or representative proceeding. Disputes can only be resolved on an individual basis.
Carve-outs. This arbitration agreement does not apply to: (a) small-claims court actions, (b) claims for injunctive or equitable relief, (c) intellectual-property disputes, or (d) jurisdictions where pre-dispute mandatory arbitration is unenforceable for consumer disputes.
EU/UK consumers. If you're an EU or UK consumer, you have the right to bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence regardless of the above, and consumer-protection laws in your country apply.
17. Changes
We may update these Terms. When we do, we'll notify users by email (to the address on file) and post a notice on the site. Substantive changes take effect 30 days after notice. Continued use of the Service after a change goes into effect counts as acceptance.
For material changes that we can't apply retroactively (like new restrictions on existing accounts), we'll give you a window to delete your account and export your data before the change applies.
18. General
Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision isn't a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We can assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any tier-specific terms (curator, publisher), are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
Notices. We'll send notices to the email address on your account. You can send notices to support@yumefumi.com.
Contact. Questions about these Terms or any of the topics above: support@yumefumi.com.
