One-line description.

Yumefumi is an editorial-forward tracker for visual novels · per-route status logging, spoiler-aware reviews, and a recommendation engine that names a reason for every pick.

Short description (~75 words).

Yumefumi is an editorial-forward tracker for visual novels. Per-route status logging, reviews that mask spoilers based on how far the reader has cleared, a recommendation engine that names a reason for every pick, and a curator program that edits the catalog. Free to read, log, and review. Pro unlocks the recommendation engine and reading-time stats. Patron adds library + profile extras and funds preservation grants.

Long description (~120 words).

Yumefumi is built for readers who treat visual novels as literature · long-form criticism, route-by-route status logs, branching journey maps. The site is explicitly complementary to VNDB · canonical metadata still lives there, and Yumefumi imports VNDB collection data in one click. The editorial wall between publisher money and reviews / recommendations is enforced at the database level, not in a policy doc. Two cents of every subscription dollar leaves the company as preservation grants nominated by the community and announced quarterly.

Things to know before writing about us.

Are you replacing VNDB?
No. VNDB is the canonical visual-novel database and the English-language community's reference for over a decade. Yumefumi imports VNDB collection data, links out for canonical metadata, and operates as an editorial + tracking layer on top of the medium. Calling Yumefumi a “VNDB replacement” would misrepresent both what the site does and how the team thinks about the VN ecosystem.
Where does the catalog data come from?
The catalog is derived from VNDB under the Open Database License (ODbL). Curator edits layer on top · descriptions, translation status, content advisories, route maps, and ending tags are written by Yumefumi curators. The VN entries themselves carry a link back to VNDB. See /catalog-data for attribution detail.
What's the preservation commitment?
ContentCrepe LLC commits 2% of subscription revenue, quarterly, to visual-novel preservation grants (fan-translation archives, rescued-media projects, volunteer-run hosting for VNs reachable after publishers shut down). Recipients are nominated by the community and announced via a public ledger at /preservation. The commitment is operational, not aspirational.
How is the site funded? Are there ads?
No ads. The site doesn’t sell reading history. Revenue comes from subscriptions ($5.99/mo Pro, $12.99/mo Patron) and a small number of labeled publisher sponsorships on a separate Publisher Picks page. The wall between sponsorship and editorial (reviews, recommendations, organic discovery) is enforced in the database schema, not in a policy doc.
What's the founding rate?
Anyone who subscribes within the first twelve months of public launch locks in a permanently lower rate ($4.99/mo Pro · $9.99/mo Patron) as long as billing stays continuous. The window doesn’t reopen. Lapsed subscribers come back at the standard rate.
What about AI?
No AI-written reviews, recommendations, editorial content, or curator submissions. The recommendation engine is a deterministic ranker over tag overlap and curator endorsements, not an LLM. We don’t accept LLM-generated review submissions and we don’t use user content to train models.
Who runs Yumefumi?
Yumefumi is operated by ContentCrepe LLC, a Delaware limited-liability company. The product is built by a solo developer with help from invited curators. There are no outside investors and no plans to take any · the founding-rate program is structured precisely so the site doesn’t need outside capital to be sustainable.
