One-line description

Yumefumi is a tracker for visual novels with per-route status logging, spoiler-aware reviews, and an explainable recommendation engine.

Short description

Yumefumi is a tracker for visual novels operated by ContentCrepe LLC. The platform supports per-route reading status, spoiler-aware reviews that hide plot details based on a reader's progress, an explainable recommendation engine, and a curator program that maintains catalog entries. The base tracker is free. A Pro subscription adds the recommendation engine and reading-time analytics; a Patron subscription adds library and profile customization features and contributes to preservation grants.

Long description

Yumefumi is a tracker for visual novels developed and operated by ContentCrepe LLC, a Delaware limited-liability company. The platform supports per-route reading status, spoiler-aware reviews, and an explainable recommendation engine, alongside a curator program that maintains catalog descriptions, translation status, content advisories, and route maps.

Yumefumi is complementary to VNDB. The catalog is derived from VNDB under the Open Database License (ODbL), and Yumefumi imports VNDB collection data with a single click. Canonical metadata continues to live on VNDB; Yumefumi links out for it where appropriate.

ContentCrepe LLC allocates two percent of all subscription revenue to preservation grants, awarded quarterly to community-nominated recipients. Editorial separation between publisher sponsorship and organic discovery is enforced at the database layer.

Founder

ToffeeSan

Visual-novel developer, Tokyo, Japan

ToffeeSan is a visual-novel developer based in Tokyo. He has been a reader of the medium since adolescence and released his first commercial title, Girls! Girls! Girls!?, on Steam in 2023.

He has not built a tracker before. Yumefumi exists because he wanted one that worked the way he wanted to read, and the existing options did not. Whether the result is worth using is a question the work will answer, not the press kit.

Outside of his work on Yumefumi, ToffeeSan continues to write visual novels.

ToffeeSan is available for interviews, podcast appearances, and other media inquiries related to Yumefumi.

Frequently asked questions

Is Yumefumi a replacement for VNDB?
No. VNDB is the canonical visual-novel database used widely in the English-speaking community. Yumefumi imports VNDB collection data, links to VNDB for canonical metadata, and operates as an editorial and tracking layer alongside it.
Where does the catalog data come from?
The catalog is derived from VNDB under the Open Database License (ODbL). Curator edits layer additional descriptions, translation status, content advisories, route maps, and ending tags on top of the base data. Each VN entry links back to the corresponding VNDB record. Full attribution is documented at /catalog-data.
What is the preservation commitment?
ContentCrepe LLC allocates two percent of all subscription revenue to visual-novel preservation grants. Funds are awarded quarterly to community-nominated recipients, including fan-translation archives, rescued-media projects, and volunteer-run hosting for visual novels at risk of becoming unavailable. The full ledger is published at /preservation.
How is the site funded? Are there advertisements?
Yumefumi does not run advertising and does not sell user reading data. Revenue comes from Pro and Patron subscriptions ($5.99 and $12.99 per month respectively) and a small number of clearly labeled publisher sponsorships hosted on a separate Publisher Picks page. Sponsorship is excluded from reviews, recommendations, and organic discovery surfaces; the separation is enforced at the database layer rather than by editorial policy.
What is the founding rate?
Subscribers who join during Yumefumi’s first twelve months of public availability are charged a permanently lower rate ($4.99 per month for Pro, $9.99 per month for Patron) for as long as their subscription remains continuous. The founding-rate window does not reopen. Lapsed subscribers who later return are billed at the standard rate.
What is Yumefumi's position on AI?
Yumefumi does not publish AI-written reviews, recommendations, or editorial content, and does not accept LLM-generated review submissions. The recommendation engine is a deterministic ranker over tag overlap and curator endorsements rather than a generative model. User content is not used to train any model.
Who runs Yumefumi?
Yumefumi is operated by ContentCrepe LLC, a Delaware limited-liability company. The product is built by a team of engineers, with editorial work contributed by an international community of curators. The team and curator pool use aliases throughout, in line with conventions in the English-speaking visual-novel community.

Platform components

Yumefumi includes a recommendation engine, a content-rendering pipeline that supports progressive spoiler disclosure based on a reader’s progress, a per-route tracking system, and an internal toolset for catalog editing, content moderation, billing, and preservation-grant accounting.

The catalog is maintained through an import pipeline that reconciles VNDB data with a curator-authored editorial layer. The route-journey diagram, the activity feed, and the editorial publishing surface are each independent subsystems. Billing handles upgrade, downgrade, and cancellation states with proration and locked founding rates.

The site is mobile-first, designed for low-bandwidth connections, and tested for compatibility with assistive technologies. Editorial separation between publisher sponsorship and organic discovery is enforced at the database layer rather than by editorial policy alone.
