The Mangagamer revision

The Mangagamer script is the version to read. The Witch Hunt fan translation did the heavy lifting for a decade and deserves the historical credit, but the Mangagamer revision tightens dialogue in places the original went baroque.

Ryukishi07's prose in Japanese alternates between ceremonial and colloquial within a single paragraph, and that shift is a character beat, not a quirk. The newer script holds the shift better. Read it with the PS3 sprites if you can — the art trade is worth it.
